For over a decade, Founder and CEO Patricia Varga has been teaching her special brand of creativity to cancer and chronic pain patients, their family members and healthcare providers. She uses guided meditation, visualization and mindfulness techniques, all forms of creative writing, the color and motion of art, uplifting and soothing music to help with the healing process. One of the core benefits of the Foundation's Create To Heal program is stress reduction. We often receive the following patient feedback: "This class gives me great peace and joy. I am much calmer, more relaxed." "The Create to Heal workshop is a mind-expanding experience that enables you to communicate with your inner-most being. The workshop relieves stress, brings joy and peace."
To implement and provide the Create to Heal program, Patricia has worked with patients, their families and side by side with oncology nurses, doctors, pain management specialists, chaplains and spiritual care providers, social workers, psychologists, art therapists, hospital administrators, and hospice and palliative care specialists. By now, some form of Create to Heal has been experienced by thousands of people going through serious illness and disease, chronic pain, fear and anxiety.
The techniques and exercises developed include a variety of healing practices. Here are the five principles of the Create to Heal program:
Our programs also consist of several books and tools:
